Richard Paul Onkka

Richard Paul Onkka was found deceased in his home in Lincoln, Nebraska on February 5, 2025 at the age of 67.

Born on October 2, 1957 in Duluth, Minnesota, Rich spent much of his life in Omaha, Nebraska. Known for his charismatic personality and love for sports, Rich made a lasting impact on his community as a beloved teammate, coach, referee and friend to many. 

Rich was preceded in death by his parents Eino Ferdinand Onkka and Claire Mickelson Onkka of Minnesota. He is survived by his daughters: Kristen, Michaela (Trevor), and Suzanne (Sam); granddaughter Laila; and brothers Jim & Dave.

Though we bid farewell to Rich, his spirit lives on in the many connections he made and legacy he left behind. His life reminds us that though trophies may gather dust, the memories created, and the bonds formed are everlasting. 

Future plans for a “Celebration of Life” will be made to commemorate Rich’s legacy.
