Michael L. Balaban

Michael Lee Balaban, age 59, of Omaha, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 24, 2025. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we choose to honor and celebrate a life well-lived—one filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

Born on December 20, 1965, in Omaha, Mike was a loving husband, an incredible father, and a great friend. Whether through his kindness, sense of humor, or unwavering support, he touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mike is survived by his wife, DeDe; his children, Shelby, Dallas, step children Melissa and Cory, 8 grandchildren, and his sister Michelle. He was a beloved husband, grandfather, father, brother, uncle, and friend and his presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Mark, brother Mel, and stepson Chad, along with 3 grandchildren.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Saturday, March 8th, 2025 from 11-3pm at the DAV Club located at 4515 F Street, Omaha NE 68117. We invite family and friends to join us in sharing memories, laughter, and love as we remember the incredible person he was.

In lieu of flowers or meals, the family requests donations to his wife, DeDe, to cover upcoming expenses.

Though he may no longer walk beside us, Mike’s spirit lives on in the love he shared, the lessons he taught, and the joy he brought to so many.
