Laurie Taitso Niemi, Jr

Laurie "Skip" Taisto Niemi Jr. passed away at the age of 80, on January 11, 2025 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlene Virginia Niemi, father, Laurie Sr. and sister, Dorothea Willand 

Skip was born in Salt Lake City, then spent most of his childhood in Whatcom County, Washington. After graduating high school, Skip enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam War. Once back stateside and out of the military, Skip married and had two children. 

In his later years, Skip moved to Omaha, Nebraska. During his time in Omaha he made a quiet life for himself. Skip enjoyed his community by taking daily walks in his neighborhood. 

Skip is survived by his son, Troy Niemi (Dixie), daughter, Sharkee Roessler (Debbie) and grandchildren, Kira, Jack, Kaleb, Jonnee, Jessee, Logan and Jagger. 

In memory of his life and service to our country, a plaque will placed on the wall at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park.
